WILDERNESS ASSISTANT SKILLS INSTRUCTOR / CAMP COUNSELOR - SEASONAL

STARTS late may 2024 - early August 2024

Boulder, CO with additional work available in Grand Junction (3 weeks) and Durango (2 weeks) for someone able to travel.

For you :

• $18.00 to $23.00 - DOE & mileage reimbursement between three camp locations
• Outside with kids all summer
• Learn and Teach Bushcraft and Survival Skills to kids age 6 to 14.
• Join a team from multiple states and connect with a larger summer camp and bushcraft community.
• Expand your experience in working outside.
• Increase your experience with outdoor experiential education.

Requirements :

• Ability to work effectively and dynamically with young people aged 6 - 14 (Experience preferred but not required).
• Outdoor skills with bushcraft, survival, outdoor recreation, etc (background preferred but need not be expert’).
• Deliver outdoor skill content curriculum confidently and effectively.
• Ability to work independently and communicate as a team member.
• Maintain and administer an organized camp
• FT must be able to commit to full summer work from early June through end of August.
• All instructors are background checked.
• Bonus if you're able to travel to the three locations, not required.

The Daily Work :

• 40 and 32.5 hour work weeks (day camp only)
• Assist in teaching groups of kids outdoor and survival skills including : shelter, knots, knives, fire, navigation, foraging, cordage, fishing, hunting, archery etc.
• A full day of making a difference for others and being engaging.
• Work autonomously and interact with parents and public at site locations.
• Manage safety, curriculum and behavior during programming with groups of 6-9 years old or 9-14 years old.
• A typical week is working from 8 : 30-4 : 30 in a municipal or county park setting, M-F.

If applying for all three locations, camping and travel are a part of the job. Gas reimbursements between locations provided, housing not provided.
