Position description

The Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis, offers temporary Lecturer positions to teach (in person) undergraduate courses during the winter and spring quarters of the 2024-2025 academic year.

This is not a remote teaching opportunity, and these positions are dependent upon the instructional needs of the department and may be full- or part-time.

Currently we are seeking candidates with teaching expertise in the Sociology of Adolescence. This broad subfield focuses on the historic emergence of adolescence as a distinct life phase, processes of socialization, forces of social control and / or medicalization, intergenerational transmission and change, the influence of peer cultures, the emergence of youth cultures, and cultural representations of adolescence.

APPOINTMENT DATES : Assignments vary according to type of course and percentage of appointment. Service periods are :

Winter Quarter 2025 January 35 - March 21

Spring Quarter 2025 March 27 - June 12

QUALIFICATIONS : Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college level, and advanced degree in Sociology or related discipline is required.

SALARY : This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement (Unit 18). The annual salary rate for this position is $68,247.
