Position Information Posting Number : 0601048-NC Position Type : Faculty Pools Position Title : Mathematics Faculty, Part-time Employment Requirement Not Applicable Division / Department : Mathematics Location Job Summary : This pool has been established to accept applications for possible openings for part-time instructors that may arise throughout the year.
Part-time instructors in the Math department teach courses ranging from Math 50 (Number Sense and Critical Thinking) through Math 256 (Applied Differential Equations), depending on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications : To teach transfer level courses (Math 105 and above), the minimum requirements are a completed master’s degree in Mathematics or completion of at least 27 graduate quarter hours in Mathematics or a related field.
To teach non-transfer level courses, the minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field, PLUS completion of at least 6 graduate quarter hours of mathematics or a related field;
AND have teaching, teaching assistant, tutoring, or training experience. The equivalent of two years full-time teaching or related experience may substitute for the completion of the 6 hours graduate course work.
Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities. Preferred Qualifications : Teaching experience in a high school, community college, or university setting.
Experience with a learning management system, zoom, and adaptive software, such as ALEKS. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Essential Duties : Teaches a variety of levels of mathematics courses. Course assignments may include day, evening or weekend classes on main campus or at the Extended Learning Centers.
Assignments may also vary in course delivery modality, such as face-to-face, virtual, hybrid, online, or FLEX.
Develops course schedules and syllabi.
Promotes excellence, enthusiasm, and excitement in the teaching of mathematics.
Identifies and meets the mathematical learning needs of students.
Develops and administers instruments for assessing student progress and competence such as exams, quizzes, and written exercises.
Works effectively with students and staff of various cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ages and successfully interacts with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
Communicates effectively in oral and written English.
Keeps accurate grade and attendance records.
