  • Founded in 1996, CMES, Inc. is a rapidly growing, privately held Georgia-based civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Superintendent to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the utility industry.

    This role is a field-based position, located in Atlanta, Georgia, and will support the project management needs in the field.

    This position will work at multiple work site locations throughout the Greater Atlanta Area.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Plan and supervise Assistant Superintendent and / or Site Foreman / Lead to keep - includes determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked.

    • Implementation and enforcement of safety policies, directing craft personnel and subcontractors;
    • Scheduling and sequencing the day to day activities of work;
    • Overseeing individual projects to assure compliance with the scope and quality as established by the contract documents;
    • Proactively anticipating and solving problems that could delay construction;

    Managing the permit and inspection process,

    Physically inspecting projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards;

    Maintaining files and updating and assist in regularly scheduled progress meetings

    Coordinate assigned work with work of different crews, company departments, or other contractors

    Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule

    Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)

    Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented

    Delegate responsibility and assure its proper completion

    Managing, delegating, inspiring, motivating, coaching, supporting, organizing and measuring the production team on a daily basis.

    Position is directly responsible for the performance of this production team.

    Position will wear protective gear (Safety Equipment as required) at all times while on job sites.

    Resolving customer issues regarding quality, delivery, or any other product performance issues as required to satisfy our customers.

    Maintain good employee morale at all times-through direction and support of the Site Foreman / Lead man as required.

    Maintain good vendor relations to ensure that proper operational performance can be achieved at all times.

    Maintaining exceptional communications throughout the company through determined use of company, production, and management meetings.

    Maintain high performance levels of the job sites by :

    1. Maintaining consistent productivity performance (planning, organizing, targeting daily performance standards, and following up) for minimal down-time.

    2. Maintaining exceptional communication performance of the leadership team members.

    3. Ensuring on-time completions of all jobs per customer requirements (project document schedule).

    4. Maintain all quality standards are achieved on every job.

    Ensure an accurate inventory is maintained on job sites and on company vehicles (company owned or Site Foreman / Lead man or Field Superintendent owned) for use in scheduling jobs-this is accomplished through delegation, assistance or support from the Site Foreman / Lead man.

    Responsible for the care and maintenance of all company vehicles and tools used for production.

    Coordinate outside service vendors in completing work for our customers. Position will ensure quality standards and on-time job completion are consistently met by these vendors-this accomplished through the delegation and support of the Site Foreman / Lead man.

    Meet with the Project Manager to discuss current project completion information and the direction and future performance of these projects for CMES, Inc.

    Schedule production meetings with Site Foreman / Lead man; follow up on targeted performance on each job site on a consistent basis to meet all work order commitments on time, at or under budget, and to customer and Company specifications and quality control standards.

    Submit accurate and timely paperwork / reports documenting job site activities / expenses daily to the Project Manager.

    Supervise the Site Foreman / Lead man in the cleaning and maintenance of job site equipment.

    Fairly and consistently apply Company and personnel policies.

    Basic Qualifications

    5-10 years of Civil Construction experience in a management position of an equivalent highway / road construction related operation.

    Demonstrated ability to supervise 10 or more employees

    Demonstrated planning and scheduling experience.

    Demonstrated knowledge of, reading & interpreting plans.

    Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines

    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos

    Ability to write simple correspondence.

    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
