Mechanical Design Engineer needed for immediate direct hire opportunity in the Prattville, AL area. This team is looking for a very enthusiastic team player that has the ability to collaborate in harmony with sales and manufacturing to bring customer requests to fruition!
Along with the proven team passion and motivation to learn & grow, this person will possess top notch design skills using Solidworks, have proven project management skills, a working knowledge of MS Office Suite, and show that 'Wow" factor that teams excel in.

responsibilities :
- New product requests and product improvements initiated by the Sales and manufacturing teams.
- Determine feasibility and functional requirements through independent analysis, research, and customer contact. Then create new products according to the Product Development Process (PDP).
- Establish and present design reviews via market research and create design concepts and proposals for projects.
- Manage multiple product development projects concurrently for on-time delivery to the market.
- Create final production documentation packages using Solidworks model concepts
- Promote an organizational culture of continuous improvement by championing the use of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, including Plan For Every Part (PFEP), pull systems, Kanban, etc.
- Prepare and present status updates on product development and design concepts.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or significant experience in a related industry
- Must have a professional enthusiasm and passion for continuous learning and professional growth.
- In lieu of a degree equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
- At least five years of experience in product design and development.
- Exposure to the transportation industry is a plus.
- A combination of years of experience, advanced education, and industry-specific training and experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum requirement.
