Pinpoint Talent has an immediate opportunity for an Associate Civil Engineer.
As our client’s Associate Civil Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and managing municipal infrastructure projects.
You will be responsible for performing complex engineering tasks related to public works, including water, sewer, street, and environmental projects.
Acting as a technical expert, you will ensure compliance with current codes and regulations, prepare and review engineering plans, manage project lifecycles, and provide essential support to city departments.

What You’ll Do :
- Review private development plans to ensure they comply with city codes and regulations.
- Evaluate transportation, traffic, and public works impacts of private projects and provide recommendations for approval conditions.
- Act as a technical lead for project design and engineering reviews, serving as the engineer of record.
- Coordinate the development of the City’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and other key infrastructure initiatives.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate the development of engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for municipal projects.
- Manage construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with contracts, schedules, and budget constraints.
- Administer permits for street use, utilities, and franchises while responding to public inquiries regarding engineering policies.
- Oversee the preparation of grant applications, traffic and utility studies, and other technical reports.
- Provide engineering support to other city departments, including sidewalk inspections and public works maintenance programs.
What We’re Looking For :
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s in Public or Business Administration is advantageous.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience , preferably in municipal or consulting work.
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering practices, including applicable laws and regulations (e.g., California Streets and Highways Code, MUTCD, Public Works Contract Code).
- Familiarity with materials, tools, and techniques used in civil construction, and ability to provide accurate cost estimates.
- Professional Engineer registration in California or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with city officials, consultants, contractors, and the public.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license at the time of hire.

- Proficiency with engineering software, GIS systems, and other relevant project management tools.
- Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple deadlines and priorities.
