Job summary
The Receptionist is part of the Building Operations team. As the front desk receptionist, you will interact with people across the Center and members of our community.
The receptionist will greet, assist, and provide directions and information to interns, staff, affiliates, visitors, and other guests.
This is a full-time onsite position at our Washington, DC office. The annual salary for this position is $26.44-$29.80 / hr commensurate with experience.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following
- Greets visitors and guests; determines the purpose of each person’s visit and directs them to the appropriate person or location.
- Answers, screens, and directs phone calls to staff; and takes messages as necessary.
- Receives mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries. Schedules courier pickups as needed.
- Keeps reception area organized and presentable.
- Maintain office security and safety procedures by controlling access to building and garage while guard is on rounds.
- Approving and issuing guest parking passes following our protocols so not to exceed the (5) permitted at a single time
- Updating and maintaining program phone lists
- Assisting with maintaining and updating the do not enter list and keeping security up to date.
- Manages temporary badges for guests and visitors ensuring the visitor sign in or badging system is being enforced.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, education, and experience
- 2+ years of experience in customer service.
- 2+ years of experience in an administrative role.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical requirements and work conditions
This position will be based out of our Washington DC headquarters and is expected to be in-office. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee working in an office environment.
