POSITION SUMMARY
SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Public Policy is a member of the public policy team, shaping policy that affects millions of Bay Area and California residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Senior Director, Public Policy, leads the development and execution of a set of the Bay Area Council’s public policy initiatives in the areas of Workforce of the Future, Education and other policy areas that may be assigned.

Workforce of the Future
The term skills gap refers to the disconnect between the education and skills of the labor pool and the knowledge and skills employers need.
In our rabidly evolving economy it is vital that we ensure that this gap is closed as much as possible. Sourcing and evangelizing best practices to make this happen will be a core responsibility.
Business Community Leadership
Establish the Bay Area Council as the regional policy leader and advocate for business on education policy issues, and any other areas assigned.
Position the Council as a genuine partner the go to organization for regional stakeholders to access the business community.
Serve as a primary resource to communities on the perspectives, interests, and concerns of the business community related to your assigned policy areas.
NCAN Support
manage the Bay Area Council’s membership of The Northern California Apprenticeship Network (NCAN) aimed at increasing the adoption of the apprenticeship model amongst the business community.
Apprenticeships are a globally accepted alternative pathway to skilled well-paid employment that allows job seekers, who for whatever reason, have not been able to access traditional 4 year degree pathways, the opportunity to maximize their talents, experience and earning potential in the workplace while also giving employers access to a huge source of untapped talent.
Workforce of the Future Committee Support
Serve as the staff lead for the Workforce of the Future Committee of the Bay Area Council. Support the Committee Co-Chairs in setting the agenda, recruiting membership, convening and conducting meetings, handling logistics, and communicating with Committee members.
Regularly report progress on Committee initiatives and activities to all members and to other key stakeholder groups.
Grant Development
Work in collaboration with BAC’s Director of Development to apply for and manage government, corporate, and private foundation grants to support Bay Area Council programs and initiatives in your assigned policy areas.
Fundraising
Be proactively engaged in other fundraising efforts by the Bay Area Council, including new member recruiting, solicitation of event sponsorships, and solicitation of other contributions from member companies.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Associate’s degree with at least two years of experience in performing the job duties and responsibilities described above.
Demonstrated ability to meet the personal attribute and skill requirements described above.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The Senior Director, Public Policy position is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated individual who desires a role in a highly respected organization.
The salary range is $80,000 to $110,000 and will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

- Medical, dental and vision insurance is 100% paid by the employer for the employee and 50% coverage for all dependents will be paid by the employer with the employee carrying the other 50%
- Long-term disability, short-term disability, and life insurance policy of up to one (1) times the employee’s annual salary.
- Paid time off (PTO) of 20 days per year for the first 4 years, then 25 days thereafter.
- Eleven (11) Paid Holidays.
- Employer sponsored 401(k) plan with an employer match of 12 percent.
- Professional development training allowance provided annually.
- Mobile Phone reimbursement up to $55.00 per month.
- Wellness stipend of $25.00 per month (certain qualifications must be met).
