The Opportunity :
Asante seeks a dynamic, collaborative and service-oriented physician to serve as its next Vice President of Medical Affairs for the health system.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead across a three-hospital system in Southern Oregon. The successful candidate will be positioned to enhance system collaboration and identify opportunities for improved clinical efficiencies.
The Position :
The VP Medical Affairs will be responsible for cultivating and developing the relationships between the hospitals and their physicians.
This role includes leadership for medical staff activities at the three hospitals, while interfacing with operations to ensure safe, effective, high-quality medical services.
The VP Medical Affairs is expected to be highly visible and accessible to facilitate provider collaboration across the system.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, this position will have a matrixed reporting relationship with executives leading hospital operations.
The successful candidate will develop strong teams, lead by example, and advance Asante's history of excellent clinical care and outcomes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of progressive physician leadership roles, experience in strategic planning, and effective communication skills to mentor physicians.
The Ideal Candidate :
- A minimum of five years of leadership experience within a health system, with expertise in medical staff, peer review, and credentialing activities.
- Must have an MD or DO license with board certification in the relevant specialty and current licensure in any state, eligible for licensure in Oregon.
- An additional advanced degree, such as MBA, MHA, or equivalent is required.
- Leads team to ensure safe, effective, equitable, and timely care of patients.
- Collaborates with entity CEOs to ensure that stable, aligned physicians and providers are available and accessible to patients seeking care.
- Leads ongoing Peer Review, Credentialing, and Privileging activities through the Medical Staff Offices at each campus.
- Oversees medical care and outcomes at each facility, partnering with nursing and medical staff leadership to maintain and improve quality and safety outcomes.
- Demonstrates high analytic competency in data use and interpretation, partnering with departments to ensure accurate and timely data.
- Demonstrated team player with experience in strategic planning and implementation of new clinical initiatives.
- Partners with leaders across the system to create alignment and promote a shared vision.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively mentor physicians.
