Annual Salary Range : $84,636 - $152,566

Job Summary

As a Structural Mechanics Engineer at BPMI, you will perform engineering evaluations and analyses and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties :

  • Lead structural evaluations, provide technical consultation, and guide customers on the analysis, design, and compliance of power plant components to applicable design codes and program standards.
  • Execute structural analysis utilizing skills such as : engineering mechanics, finite element analysis, thermal / mechanical analysis, fracture mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, shock, vibration, fluid dynamics, and related technologies.
  • Utilize engineering analysis and computer simulation modeling applications such as finite element analyses, post processing software, etc.

and apply scripting and programming on limited basis.

  • Review and evaluate equipment specifications and vendor proposals for overall structural requirements.
  • Assess adequacy of component structural evaluations performed by suppliers to demonstrate the component structural integrity through independent verification and / or technical reviews.
  • Represent BPMI at technical meetings with suppliers, other prime contractors and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program representatives.

Minimum Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics or other related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A Minimum of four (4) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Preferred Job Requirements :

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics or other related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in mechanical analysis / design, with emphasis on structural analysis and material behavior requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience using finite element analysis and computer-aided engineering techniques.
  • Proven track record of effective written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of some or all of the following : engineering mechanics, fracture mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, shock, vibration, fluid dynamics, or related technology.
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel design codes such as the ASME pressure vessel code.
  • Experience in Python programming, data analytics, or relevant coding languages.
