About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Data Science with a strong background in designing, building and deploying machine learning applications in production environments.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading data science teams to deliver innovative machine learning solutions that enhance programmatic advertising performance.

What you’ll be doing :

• Coach, develop, and lead a team of data scientists building machine learning solutions across multiple product lines.
• Architect and manage the deployment of thigh-performance machine learning solutions in the cloud, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Drive the evolution of machine learning systems and data-driven techniques to improve programmatic advertising yield and efficiency.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to define product vision and roadmap, aligning development efforts with business goals and customer needs.
• Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the data science team.
• Manage the entire machine learning development lifecycle, from planning and prioritization to testing and release.
• Provide strategic direction, development oversight, and performance accountability for Sovrn’s cross-product data science efforts.
• Monitor system performance, anticipate potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal uptime and user experience.
• Spot, attract, and retain top-tier data science talent.

A successful candidate will have :

• 5+ years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with the digital advertising ecosystem, including SSPs, Ad Exchanges, DSPs, and related technologies preferred.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch and Keras.
• Experience in cloud computing platforms, preferably AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with MLOPs frameworks such as Kubeflow and MLFlow.
• Proven ability to manage and resolve complex technical issues.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying machine learning models to solve business problems, particularly in the context of programmatic advertising or digital marketing.
• Familiarity with software development best practices and agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing data science talent.
• Experience building, operating, and scaling high performance, highly transactional systems
• Passion and drive to help the team improve and deliver great products.
• Active listening and respect for others opinions and ideas.
• Experience working closely with Product Management and Creative teams to design new features and empower the engineering teams to develop them.
• Experience working with remote engineering teams geographically distributed across the world.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in an analytical area such as computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or engineering, or equivalent experience.

Position Reports to : Senior Director, Data Science & Data Engineering

Location : This position is designated as hybrid and is based in our Boulder, Colorado office. Applicants should be able to commute to our Boulder location as required. #LI-Hybrid

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role in Boulder, Colorado is $160,000 to $185,000 salary and any related bonuses or commissions.

Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills and certifications.
