Working closely with diabetes nurses and endocrinologists, along with part time diabetes dietitians, this role works predominantly in the outpatient setting across paediatric and adult populations.
In addition to individual consultations, this role also works in MDT clinic and group education settings. The patient caseload involves adults and children with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, insulin pump therapy and gestational diabetes.
This role is based at Wellington Regional Hospital and also provides a service to paediatric MDT clinics and facilitate MITCHAL courses at Kenepuru Hospital.
It may, on occasion, require visits in the community. This role is 24 hours per week.

DUTIES
- Assess and manage patients across the spectrum of diabetes, including paediatrics, adults and gestational diabetes
- Provide inpatient education at time of diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes to children and their whānau
- Work collaboratively with the dietetic team and wider multidisciplinary teams to attain positive patient outcomes
- Support the ongoing development of the dietetic service
- Participate in student supervision
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- NZ Registered Dietitian with current APC
- Dietitian Prescriber
- At least three years’ clinical experience, including recent experience in diabetes management
- Ability to manage a diverse clinical caseload
- Ability to build rapport and adapt your communication style to suit a wide variety of patient groups
- Self-motivated and organised
