The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.
4 million physical and digital materials. We occupy nearly 900,000 square feet of building space and are committed to adding two new library branches in the next few years.

What you'd do :
Work in Denver Public Library locations assisting in the specialized facilitation of activities as a part of the New Americans Project.
Assist with services that engage immigrant and refugee communities including conversation practice, creative expression, citizenship preparation and general daily life topics geared toward self-sufficiency.
Collaborate with the program team to facilitate informational and practical programming through informal methods and inclusive approaches.
About You

Ability to apply creative solutions to program implementation as part of a collaborative team effort.
Ability to move between a variety of activities as requested by participants and the program team.
Ability to engage in a multilingual environment.
Ability to assist with program set up and clean up.
Ability to facilitate connections for newcomers in a respectful manner.
Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness in working with customers, coworkers, volunteers and community.
Ability to use basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software.
Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
Fluency in a language other than English is required.
Advanced fluency in English is not required for this position, but a working proficiency is needed.
A desire to work with intergenerational groups in a multilingual environment.
The ability to facilitate programming virtually and in-person.
Education and Experience :
A high school diploma or equivalency.
One year of experience working in an organized program.
Other things you should know :
The New Americans Project grant program is designed to support Denver’s newcomers in accessing neighborhood resources to achieve their personal goals with the help of the library.
Programs are located at 10 locations throughout the Denver area.
This position usually does not exceed 10 hours per week and the location and times will be determined by the needs of programming schedules.
Most shifts are 2-4 hours in length. There will be a combination of virtual and in-person work available, but applicants will need to be available for in-person work.
