The Survey Instrument Repair and Rentals Technician is responsible for performing a variety of services on customer’s optical and GNSS equipment including diagnostics, testing, repair, calibration, upgrading, and cleaning.
The Technician also coordinates with the Rental Manager and is responsible for handling rentals that originate out of the store including proper configuration, testing, invoicing, and performing maintenance and repairs on all rental equipment.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Provide quality service that meets or exceeds our service standards.
- Configuration / testing of products : unpack, calibrate, charge batteries, test basics of system to ensure successful operation by end customers.
- Work directly with customers in store to check in equipment for calibrations and / or repairs.
- Create and process service orders for incoming repairs.
- Perform repairs and calibrations on survey and mapping equipment.
- Collaborate with Regional Service Manager to always stay current on updated training / authorizations.
- Prepare and process rental agreements that outline fees and payment protocols while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Work with customers in store to check out and check in rental equipment.
- Coordinate with Rentals Manager to maintain survey and mapping equipment rentals in the North Charleston region : Assemble necessary equipment for rental including testing for successful operation by end customers.
- Maintain and ensure that all rental equipment is in proper working condition and schedule maintenance / repairs as needed.
- Provide initial equipment operation training on rental equipment to new customers.
- Process incoming customer data from rental equipment as needed.
- Constant maintenance of rental equipment tracking system to ensure effective communication and decision making between all Geospatial Branches.
- Additional duties as assigned by Regional Service Manager and Rentals Manager
Requirements
- Prior experience or knowledge of electronics and / or survey equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in land surveying or in the construction industry preferred
- Occasional travel for training as required
Competencies
- Experience and proficiency in Windows 10 Operation Systems
- Must possess good communication skills both verbally and written to best serve customers
- Personal accountability in the workplace as well as the ability to efficiently multitask
- High attention to detail and accuracy
