The Position :
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting close of the monthly revenue cycle, preparation of financial reporting products, and assisting with the communication and maintenance of changes in the operational reporting system architecture.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists with general ledger maintenance by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and verifying system transactions.
- Performs general ledger account variance analysis, investigating and resolving issues to ensure an accurate month-end close.
Documents significant budget to actual variances for assigned accounts.
- Assists with work paper and control documentation. Supports efficient and effective audit processes.
- Setting up assets and recording depreciation on a monthly basis.
- Researches technical issues and recommends policy to ensure integrity of financial reporting.
- Supports an environment of continuous improvement by evaluating and enhancing current accounting practices and process flows.
- Supports other financial statement analysis and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience with generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to learn on the fly; initiative and willingness to learn new tasks quickly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office
- Healthcare experience is a plus.
- PeopleSoft experience is a plus.
- Experience with asset management is a plus.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience, acceptable.
