Industrial Engineer
Integrated Distribution Services, Inc. (IDS) is a third party distribution company with facilities in Plainfield & Indianapolis, IN and Salt Lake City, UT.
For over fifty years, IDS has delivered a comprehensive mix of supply chain logistics services that includes warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment and transportation services to customers in diverse industries.
IDS Fulfillment specializes in order fulfillment for e-commerce, direct sales, retail and start-up companies serving a wide variety of industries as well as excelling in local public and contract warehousing.
IDS is seeking an experienced and highly self-motivated person for our Industrial Engineer position located at our Plainfield, IN facility.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing warehouse and production processes by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing automation to enhance efficiency.
This role involves designing and implementing efficient production systems, reducing costs, and increasing productivity.
The Industrial Engineer ensures that IDS operations maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, this position drives continuous improvement initiatives and supports IDS's growth objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyze and evaluate existing processes in manufacturing, supply chain, and other systems to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Design systems and processes that promote efficient workflow and reduce waste in terms of time, materials, and energy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to implement process improvements, ensuring high-quality outputs, safety, and timely delivery of projects.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining operations and optimizing production workflows.
- Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency, taking safety and compliance into account.
- Conduct statistical studies and analyze data on the processes to identify trends and solve production issues.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure on-time and successful delivery.
- Monitor the performance metrics of automation equipment to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices in warehouse operations.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and with optimal outcomes.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination between different departments to align project goals with organizational strategies.
SECURITY
- Complies with all company inventory control and security procedures and ensures compliance by others.
- Possesses specific knowledge of safety protocols for the facility and customer accounts.
SAFETY
- Complies with all government and company safety rules.
- Is responsible for the safety of employees in their assigned area.
- Reports promptly to supervision any safety violations of workers, safety noncompliance of facilities and equipment, and other safety issues.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and / or experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5-7 years’ relevant 3PL work experience.

- Strong technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to think logically and problem-solve in order to analyze situations, troubleshoot, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
