Scope

Within our Portfolio Valuation practice, our clients include many of the world’s largest hedge funds, private equity funds, direct lending funds, and business development companies.

We advise them on the valuations of illiquid debt, equity, and complex securities to meet their investor and regulatory financial reporting requirements.

Our market-leading practice has a strong reputation with regulators, auditors, and investors.

As an Associate in our Portfolio Valuation Practice, you will play a key role on our engagement teams, which typically comprise at least one Managing Director, Vice President, Associate, and one or more Financial Analysts.

Your primary activities will include valuing debt, equity, and structured securities; presenting analyses and conclusions;

designing and drafting client deliverables; and directing the efforts of financial analysts.

Responsibilities

• Supporting portfolio valuation teams, which provide valuations of illiquid debt and equity securities held by hedge funds, private equity funds, and business development companies.
• Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals to clients.
• Participating in deal team brainstorming discussions and preparing information request lists.
• Reviewing client investment memoranda and financial models.
• Directing the efforts of financial analysts and ensuring the delivery of accurate work products.
• Assisting in the preparation of pitch materials and information request lists to clients.
• Participating in due diligence meetings and communicating with clients.
• Researching and providing information on economic conditions and industry trends.
• Compiling statistical summaries of companies’ financial information.
• Constructing and reviewing valuation and other financial analyses.
• Presenting valuation analyses and conclusions to clients.
• Performing financial statement analysis and other assessments.
• Performing other ad-hoc research and support for project teams as required.
• Coordinating with internal administrative support teams for engagement invoices and compliance procedures.
• Participating in discussions with legal counsel as required.
• Assisting with marketing initiatives for clients.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (in Finance a plus)
• Minimum of 3-5+ years of valuation experience
• Strong analytical abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of financial statements analysis.
• Fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory and methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of Excel modeling.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• An exceptional work ethic.
• Experience at Big Four or an Independent Valuation Advisory firm a plus.

Salary Range

Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package.

The firm’s good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is : $100,000.00-$160,000.00. Actual salary may vary based on various factors.
