The University of Hawaii at Manoa, Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing (UHM NAWSON) invites qualified applicants for one (1) tenure-track, 11-month, faculty position.

Specific priorities include undergraduate and graduate nursing education and research in support of the school's research agenda to address health disparities in Native Hawaiian and other underserved populations.

The position is expected to begin approximately January 2024 or as mutually acceptable. Continuous recruitment; 1st review : December 8, 2023;

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Teach assigned courses in the undergraduate and / or graduate program. Specific priorities of need include nursing education, research methodology and leadership.
• Conduct professional / scientific research.
• Maintain an active research program.
• Provide service to the school, university, profession, and community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications :

• Doctorate degree from an accredited program with a research dissertation completed in nursing or a field relevant to the research and scholarship interests of the UHM NAWSON;
• Hold a current (or be eligible for) unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawaii;
• Demonstrated ability as a teacher;
• Demonstrated scholarly achievement;
• Demonstrated poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.

Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications :

• Coursework in curriculum development and nursing and / or health sciences education.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one of the specific priority need areas : nursing education, research, and leadership.
• Certification or eligibility in advanced practice nursing.
• Demonstrated competency in interprofessional team work and team science.
• Demonstrated experience in extramurally funded research.
• Recent publication in scientific peer-reviewed major journals.
• Experience with nursing or healthcare technology-based simulation education.

Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications :

• Doctorate degree from an accredited program with a research dissertation completed in nursing or a field relevant to the research and scholarship interests of the UHM NAWSON;
• Four (4) years of service as a faculty member in an academic university at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent;
• Coursework in curriculum development and evaluation;
• Hold a current (or be eligible for) unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawaii;
• Has a clearly defined focus of research;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with, teach, train, supervise, mentor, and / or collaborate with a variety of individuals, including community members, clinicians / practitioners, students and junior researchers;
• Demonstrated competency in interprofessional team work and team science;
• Recent publication in scientific peer reviewed major journals;
• Active program of research;
• Demonstrated record of leadership in department, university, and profession;
• Evidence of proficiency in teaching;
• Continued evidence of participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university or other appropriate organization, or in an appropriate professional society or organization, or in other appropriate job-related service activities;
• Demonstrated poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.

Associate Professor Desirable Qualifications :

• Experience teaching master’s or doctoral level courses in nursing education and / or leadership.
• Active program of research with evidence of recent extramurally funded research
• Certification or eligibility in advanced practice nursing.
• Experience with nursing or healthcare technology-based simulation education.
