Join our team as a Senior Competitive Intelligence Analyst!
Whole Foods Market is looking for an experienced, talented, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Analyst on the Competitive Intelligence team.
In this role, the individual will be responsible for delivering insights on competitive forces by researching and analyzing retailer’s business performance data.
The individual will help navigate ambiguity to provide timely and accurate analysis to business partners and help the organization frame a point of view on overall competitiveness.
As part of the Competitive Intelligence team, you will analyze data to provide insights to support various Merchandising initiatives within the Culinary and Perishables business areas and you will partner cross-functionally with different business units to help solve problems.
We are looking for someone who can weave a narrative for business stakeholders by diving into data and summarizing findings for non-technical folks.
The right candidate will be passionate about pairing findings from a technical analysis with a deep understanding of grocery retail to answer complex business questions that deepen our understanding of our competitors.
Success in this role means having the business proficiency to contextualize findings for stakeholders and the technical proficiency to leverage tools to stage the data to support those findings.
The ideal candidate will have a background in storytelling with analytics, visualizing with business intelligence tools (e.
g., Tableau), and analyzing data by using SQL and other analytics tools.
Location : Austin, TX This role is based in Austin, TX with an expectation of 3 days a week in the Store Support office.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key stakeholders in Pricing and Merchandising to evaluate competitor strategies and leverage the findings to influence business recommendations.
- Coordinate the gathering of retail pricing, assortment, and promotion data on competitors in partnership with Merchandising leaders.
- Turn and translate complex data into meaningful insights and / or business recommendations for non-technical audiences.
- Apply analytical techniques to measure competitive data for completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
- Manage the full suite of competitive reports, pointing out areas in need of improvement and making recommendations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, analytical business specialty or commensurate retail experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or comparable research role, including use of business intelligence tools.
- 3+ years of experience with relational databases (SQL), and data analytics programming and visualization tools (R, Python, Alteryx, Tableau).
- Ability to present and defend ideas, conclusions, and recommendations with clarity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in a wide range of analytical and statistical techniques and tools to derive insights from large and complex data.
- Strong attention to detail, and excellent organization and time management skills.
- Initiative-taking to develop expertise on industry trends and the use of data and analytics.
