Currently, we are seeking a Fire Protection Fabrication Manager to join our Fire Protection Group! The Fire Protection Fabrication Manager role is responsible for purchasing, planning and managing the fabrication processes, ensuring demand and quality is met by utilizing lean practices, balancing project schedules and workflows.
This role works directly with the Outside Superintendents, Project Managers, Field Foremen, Coordination, and Purchasing to help maximize fabrication across all projects, guaranteeing quality and repeatability, to ensure efficient and safe field installation.
This role also works closely with Operations and Estimating, providing them with valuable cost and productivity data and feedback to help keep fabrication estimates accurate.
In addition, this role requires a high level of collaboration amongst Vendors and Local distributors other shop leads, personnel and supporting groups to ensure best practices are being shared, space and tools are also being shared and that we are fully optimizing our resources (space, tools, and equipment).
In this role you will :
- Planning and Prioritizing the Work
- Short term interval planning and long-term forecasting. Work alongside Superintendent, PMs and Coordinators to ensure we are drawing / designing with Fabrication and Constructability in mind and appropriately incorporating our lessons learned.
- Effectively schedules and prioritizes all fabrication projects to meet the needs of the clients, field, coordination, and project management.
- High level of interaction with the Outside Supers, field, coordination, project management teams and supporting groups (logistics, purchasing, and estimating).
- Visits project sites to promote open dialogue between office, field, and fabrication.
- Analyze fabrication forecast to prioritize fabrication schedule.
- Analyze Fire Protection Fabrication Forecast to prioritize needs of our ongoing projects.
- Coordinate and schedule deliveries.
- Order all material needed for fabrication : Pipe and weld-o-lets, etc.
- Printing of fabrication labels.
- Print drawings for all fabrication lists.
- Submit time for all fab shop employees.
- Regularly update and maintain master FP price list with current pricing.
- Oversee all foremen orders including FP service.
- Maintain FP material ordering APP.
- Order all material from stock lists from designers.
- Order all material submitted from FP service sales team.
- Approve all FP invoices.
- Meets regularly with Vendors & Local Distributors regarding chain supply and pricing updates.
- Operational Excellence
- Improve all aspects of Scheduling and Planning (especially communication).
- Improve all aspects of workflow in FP shop to allow an efficient and safe working environment.
- Material handling, find better ways to minimize and eliminate unnecessary movement.
- Build a nimble workforce, that is fully trained, ready to react and execute to any change.
- Leadership and Mentorship
- Coach, mentor, share best practices and knowledge across the Office, Shop and Field.
- Fosters an environment based on our values of communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement integrity and safety.
- Promotes a positive safety culture by adhering to policies and procedures set out by the department.
- Cost and Productivity
- Track cost using Excel, Fid Fab, and Sisense and Report to PMs, OM and Estimating.
- Tightly manage and communicate Fab Labor Planning and Projections.
- Work with purchasing on pricing, terms, conditions, and availability.
- Enters all required data and reports on metrics via the FP Shop App.
A successful candidate will have :
- Years’ Experience : 10+ Years.
- Education : Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Trade / Industry Experience.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of scheduling and productivity.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and drive for positive results.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Fire Protection Systems and Material Standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA Standards.
- Software experience necessary : Microsoft Suite (word, excel, outlook).
Physical Requirements
