The Washington Association for Community Health (WACH) is actively seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to champion the mission of the organization, while developing and leading a talented staff committed to an environment of inclusion and innovation.
Reporting to the 28-member Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, the CEO is responsible for overall leadership and management of the Association, ensuring the successful implementation of the strategic and operational plans approved by the Board of Directors.
The members of WACH represent the diversity of the community health center movement in size, complexity, services rendered as well as being in rural, suburban and urban settings.
They do align in their deep commitment to improving the health of the most vulnerable individuals in Washington.
WACH’s members deliver health care to more than 1.1 million Washingtonians each year at more than 350 clinic sites. The Association strengthens the member health centers' work with the information, partnerships and tools that make high-quality care a reality for people across the state.
Washington State is home to 28 Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQHC), which are non-profit public entities that serve medically underserved populations.
These community health centers are all members of the Association, and every member CEO serves as a member of the Board.
The Association currently has a staff of approximately 35.
The new CEO will have the responsibility and opportunity to be a visible advocate with local, state and federal legislators to ensure community health centers receive funding to support the delivery of the health and social services they provide in numerous communities throughout the state.
The CEO will need to strengthen and expand partnerships with other organizations in its advocacy and programming efforts.
Some of these partners are the Community Health Network of Washington, Washington Health Care Authority, the State Medicaid office and Director, the Governor’s office, and Northwest Regional Primary Care Association.
Key Selection Criteria for this position includes the following :
- Fifteen+ years successful senior leadership experience; prior PCA and / or health center experience preferred and will be seen favorably.
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration or related field required.
- Strong policy and advocacy background and a leader who can manage relationships with state legislatures.
- Reputation and track record of actively listening to constituents in the formulation of vision and prioritized action plans.
- Understanding of all facets of the community health center system and experience in or active knowledge of association management.
- Proven accomplishments in partnering and collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders at the state and local levels and demonstrated results in developing and championing initiatives and campaigns.
- Demonstrated skills in legislative and regulatory development processes, government relations, business and program development, finances and grant / funding development, and personnel recruitment, management and development.
- Effective communication and strong relationship-building skills are essential.
- Visionary and strategic thinker; results-oriented combined with a collaborative, flexible and nimble management style.
- Demonstrated appreciation and respect for the cultural diversity of the patients and service partners of Association’s members.
- Servant Leader who is proud to be aligned with the community health center movement.

Salary for this role is anticipated to range from $206,000 to $272,000 commensurate with experience. All expressions of interest are confidential.
