RCC invites you to apply for our Academic Coach opening. This position is part time with no benefits and works 29 hours / week at our Warsaw campus.
The anticipated hiring range is up to $23.25 per hour, commensurate with experience. We are looking for candidates who share RCC’s values of integrity, diversity, equity, and inclusion, excellence, access, and learning for life.
Reporting to the Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management, the Academic Coach is responsible for working with a target population of college students to support and enhance their success in college.
The Academic Coach will assist these students in developing individualized academic plans, applying for financial aid and scholarships, identifying academic needs and linking to tutoring or other learning support resources, visiting student development course classes, and providing follow up when risk factors such as poor attendance or low grades are evident.
The Academic Coach role is a part of the Title III Strengthening Institutions grant and continuance is subject to funding.
The incumbent will communicate with students in the target population regularly and engage, advise and counsel them in person, individually and / or in small groups, to develop academic and career-related skills.
This position will ensure these students have access to college resources and support that will lead to the completion of their programs.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications
- Experience providing academic advising services, tutoring and instruction.
- Strong interpersonal skills to help engage, provide support to, and motivate students.
- Ability to develop individualized academic plans with students that will lead to program completion.
- Knowledge of specific needs of underserved populations to attain educational success.
- Ability to work with students with identified risk factors for academic success.
- Ability to work with college faculty and staff in support of student success.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and social media.
- Successful and demonstrated high performance in providing exceptional customer service.
