Senior / Principal Software Engineer Remote - United States

Our Engineering team serves as a key driver of innovation at Forward Financing. We build the software that powers a FinTech product that serves Small Businesses across the country.

A key part of our strategy involves leveraging data from dozens of third-party vendors to power our AI / ML initiatives and our analytical capabilities.

We’re looking for a seasoned Principal Engineer to guide our third-party data strategy. As a technical leader, you’ll play a crucial part in our growth in this pillar.

In this role, you will :

• Serve as a scrum team’s technical leader; driving the quality, scalability, reliability, and speed to market of Forward’s third-party integration infrastructure
• Improve the quality of software applications through technical leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship
• Lead cross-team planning activities for complex features spanning multiple scrum teams
• Champion technical excellence within the engineering organization.
• Maintain a high level of engagement across multiple scrum teams, promptly address bugs and incidents, and consistently be accessible during core hours
• Improve the efficiency of engineers through technical guidance and mentorship
• Act as SME on Forward’s software ecosystem

• Significant experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship
• Significant expertise in designing and implementing complex systems across multiple software applications and / or languages (typically Golang, Python, Java, etc)
• Exhibit maturity and ownership in all aspects of work
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Significant ability to influence others
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Demonstrated passion for learning and self-development within the software industry
• Typically has several years of experience in agile software development, including expertise in a modern programming language (Golang, Python, Java, Typescript)
• Typically has a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or additional relevant experience
