Responsibilities
Document Management :
- Organize, index, and manage legal documents and evidence pertinent to cases
- Utilize electronic document management systems for document storage, retrieval, and tracking
Discovery Assistance :
- Oversee the discovery process
- Coordinate document collection, review, and production
- Assist in drafting discovery requests and responses
Legal Research :
- Investigate legal precedents, laws, and regulations relevant to the case
- Summarize research findings for attorneys
Drafting Legal Documents :
Compose preliminary legal documents like pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas for attorney review
Client Interaction :
Serve as the intermediary between the attorney and the client, collecting necessary information and providing case updates
Case Management :
- Track case deadlines and maintain the case calendar
- Liaise with staff, experts, and opposing counsel regarding case logistics
Qualifications
Education & Certification :
Preferred : Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or Bachelor's degree
Experience :
5-10 years of litigation experience in law firms
Skills :
- Proficient in legal research, preferably on Westlaw or similar platforms
- Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
