Grow your career as a successful Business Development Manager - Hosts within ALG Vacations. In this role, you will be responsible for growing incremental revenue with designated Host accounts representing Travel Impressions, Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, United Vacations, Southwest Vacations and Blue Sky Tours.
You will develop and enhance strong host agency relationships with a primary focus on their independent contractors (ICs).
You will take a consultative selling approach with these ICs to identify growth and share shift opportunities, leverage preferred relationships and execute engagement plans to grow incremental revenue.
You will create solid engagement plans for events you attend taking advantage of these large sales calls to identify and cultivate relationships for incremental growth and profitability.
This is a remote role, but our ideal candidate must be in ESS / CST timezones*
A successful Business Development Manager - Hosts will :
- Develop strategic alliances with Host agencies and their independent contractors (ICs).
- Leverage preferred relationships of Apple Leisure Group Vacations (ALGV) in order to gain commitment, incremental revenue growth with Host agencies.
- Utilize a consultative sales approach to match the needs of the agency / ICs with the product offering of ALGV.
- Gain revenue commitments with ICs for the appropriate brand(s). Execute an implementation / engagement plan to realize committed revenue.
- Document all activities in Salesforce to manage commitments, sales calls, etc at agency / IC levels.
- Achieve sales targets by utilizing data and targeting ICs with the biggest opportunities.
- Be responsive to agent needs, issue resolutions while providing consistent & effective follow up.
- Represent ALGV at host and industry events to cultivate new business opportunities and gain new revenue commitments.
- Create brand loyalty through the use of key tools such as joint marketing plans, agency education, provide marketing tools to ICs, product differentiation, and value proposition of booking brand.
- Use reporting tools to understand profitability, trends and goal tracking.
- Increase and promote distribution through VAX booking platform in line with established goals.
- Monitor competitive activities in the marketplace and provide feedback in reporting and in meetings.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by manager.
A successful Business Development Manager - Hosts will have :
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or three or more years related experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Travel industry knowledge or experience preferred, but will consider other candidates will transferable sales background.
- Ability to travel up to 70% of the time by plane and car depending on the location of client opportunity. Travel consists of attending host events, internal & external account meetings, trade shows, FAM trips, supplier functions, training functions both in destination and in the territory.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer service, meeting quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing or promoting products and services, including marketing strategy and tactics.
- Consultative sales experience with knowledge of principles and methods for selling products and services including sales techniques and sales control systems.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to position ALGV as a solution to an agency’s needs, ultimately persuading ICs to commit to selling our products.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to dissect reporting and take appropriate action to grow revenue. Good grasp of reading reports, understanding data, knowledge of pivot tables a plus.
- Understanding the implications of new information learning from past experiences for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Ability to clearly verbalize the benefits of our products with the how / why an agency should work with us.
- Strong listening skills which allows you ask the right questions and hear what is important to an agency.
- Ability to prepare and present confidently information important to the attendees in an events setting.
- Ability to manage a large volume of inquiries with excellent organizational skills, while maintaining focus on your proactive sales requirements, meeting deadlines where necessary.
