Scope of Position
The East Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission / discharge criteria.
The East laboratory performs Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, various Manual Testing, Rapid Covid, Rapid Influenza, Manual Body Fluid and CSF cell counts and differentials as well as Transfusion Services and Central Processing.
The lab provides training for new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Position Summary
The Medical laboratory technician performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results.
Manages phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency. RRL staff uses the laboratory computer system to review report and call critical values to various healthcare professionals.
Laboratory staff performs and documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation.
The laboratory also provides training for new staff and medical technology students. Medical laboratory technologists work under the direction of the Lab manager, lead technologist.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire : Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological science with MT certification. Must obtain MT certification within one year from the date of hire.
On going : Meets mandatory hospital education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence
in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions
