Position Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Surveying Technician to join our team. This position involves operating survey equipment and utilizing various technologies to support land development and civil engineering projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience with surveying equipment, be detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively to provide accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, including GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors, for field surveys.
- Assist in performing boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys for land development and civil engineering projects.
- Collect, process, and analyze field data to produce accurate and detailed survey information.
- Work closely with surveyors, project managers, and engineers to support project needs and ensure data accuracy.
- Transfer collected data from field equipment to office software for processing and mapping.
- Maintain field notes, sketches, and other documentation in an organized manner.
- Troubleshoot and ensure the proper calibration and functionality of surveying equipment.
- Adhere to company safety protocols and industry standards during fieldwork.
- Assist with drafting survey-related drawings as needed, using AutoCAD or similar software.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associates degree or technical certification in surveying, geomatics, or a related field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in land surveying or related fieldwork required.
- Proficiency with GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors; experience with Trimble or Leica equipment is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar drafting software is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with civil engineering projects, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
- Knowledge of applicable state and local surveying regulations and standards.
- Strong math and analytical skills, particularly in trigonometry and geometry.
