ALE Behavior Coach
This position is for a 1 year contract for the 2024-2025 school year only.
Department : Special Services
Contract : 197 days - 5 days more than a regular teacher contract
Position Purpose
- Provide direct support to Bentonville ALE classrooms for students with the most significant behavioral and mental health needs
- Will be supervised by the district behavior specialist and elementary coordinator & middle-level coordinator
Essential Functions
- Conduct Tier III FBAs and analyze behavioral patterns to collaboratively develop behavior support plans to reduce negative behaviors and increase student achievement
- Collaborate with educational teams to provide expertise in the analysis of behavior problems
- Collect, organize, and analyze data to progress monitor behavior plans
- Manage data and student growth in order to help students transition back to zoned schools
- Provide training / coaching for teachers in assigned classrooms
- Provide training / coaching for paraprofessionals and / or Registered Behavior Technicians in assigned classrooms
- Implement long-term maintenance plan for continued behavior supports
- Collaborate with Ozark Guidance TDT and other outside agencies that serve Bentonville students concerning behavior plans
- Partner with school counseling services, mental health providers, and other support staff in order to positively affect student success
- Maintain a strong commitment to team collaboration through Professional Learning Communities
- Facilitate PLC meetings
- Participate in school-wide events
- Meet the requirements in becoming a trainer in Professional Crisis Management
- Complete and participate in required building and district professional development activities
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with students who have significant behavioral needs
- Successful experience in supporting students with significant behavioral needs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with parents and education professionals
- Ability to handle emotionally charged situations
- Physical stamina and agility required to care for active children
- Knowledge of trauma-informed education practices
- Works in standard office and school building environments
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Works in a public school setting
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- May occasionally be required to provide student behavior support by using appropriate restraint or seclusion techniques - for student safety purposes only
- May occasionally be required to provide physical assistance to students in emergency evacuation or lockdown procedures
- Must be capable of safely traversing all assigned areas of the school facility
Certification / License
Special Education Teacher, School Psychology Specialist, BCBA, BaCBA
Education
Master’s degree in education or related field
Experience
Prefer 5 years’ experience in school psychology, teaching, or work with students with disabilities
