Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Windows system administration and engineering roles, with a focus on enterprise environments.
- 3+ years of experience in a large scale client / server production environment, including multi-tier architectures, single sign-on (SSO) technologies, load balanced workloads, caching, web servers, application servers, and databases
- 3+ years of experience with scripting, automation and configuration management, including tools like PowerShell, Ansible and Terraform
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsft Entra ID, Active Directory, M365, Group Policy, and other core Windows services.
- Knowledge of endpoint management and security stacks such as Microsoft InTune, Microsoft Denfender, and Jamf.
- Ability to travel once or twice a year for education, professional development, or conferences.
- Ability to perform light lifting as appropriate for equipment installations and maintenance.
- Flexibility in work schedule; willingness to occasionally adjust work hours for system maintenance and upgrades.
- Off-business hours availability in case of system emergencies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Must live in the State of Michigan. We currently offer a work-from-home option, but flexibility is expected if there is a need or request to come to campus.
This requires that an employee be available to arrive at campus within 1 to 1.5 hours, if requested by their supervisor.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Professional certifications are highly desirable.

Position Details Position Purpose Join University Technology Services as a key member of the Technical Services team. As a Senior Windows System Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems and infrastructure within our organization.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our Windows server environment.
Working with the Director, you will establish the technical direction for these environments and implement the established direction.
Projects are enterprise-wide and supportive of both academic and administrative operational organizations. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to junior engineers and IT staff.
