Position Purpose
Physician Hospitalist Psychiatry provides consulting liaison services dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive psychiatric care to hospitalized patients.
Practitioners of psychiatric consulting liaison services engage in clinical care, teaching, research, or leadership in the field of acute hospital psychiatric medicine.
In addition to their core expertise consulting for the clinical psychiatric problems of acutely ill hospitalized patients, psychiatric consulting liaison practitioners work to enhance the performance of hospitals and healthcare systems by prompt and complete attention to all requested consults for psychiatric patient care needs including diagnosis, treatment and the performance of medical procedures (within their scope of practice).
Nature and Scope
The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of specialty and experience.
The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies.
The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff.
The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system.

2. Capable of operating business units in conformance with good quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA, etc.
3. Effective leadership skills (and leading by example);
4. Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while involving a variety of internal and external groups.
5. Ability to work independently.

Education :
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
Experience :
Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred.
License(s) :
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license.
Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s) :
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification, but will accept online certification from , , or .
Computer / Typing :
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and / or payor credentialing, as applicable.
