Job Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Engineer to work in our Measurement Sciences department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education facility in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off.
You will apply nuclear engineering principles and methods to design, test, and analyze nuclear equipment and systems. Research new materials of special interest in radiation detection, nuclear fuels, and reactors.
Perform studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. You will report to the manger of Measurement Sciences.
Responsibilities Include :
- Work with designers, analysts, and customers to develop experimental requirements or to develop packaging and handling requirements for spent nuclear fuel.
- Select and widely apply advanced nuclear engineering design principles, theories, and concepts (which may include reactor fuel and packaging).
Decompose project goals into defined and controlled design requirements.
- Use design methodologies, technologies, and processes which are best practice for the technical discipline to develop a design, and to validate that the design meets defined requirements.
- Document the design (controlled and approved models, drawings, specifications, design descriptions) to establish conformance with design requirements and applicable codes and standards.
- Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements to ensure technical features important to design responsibilities are maintained.
- Oversee or otherwise ensure that fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement are done following the design.
Qualifications : Minimum Requirements :
- Level 1 : Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field.
- Level 2 : Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field and 2 years of experience or Master's and 0 years of experience.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information :
- The pay range for this position is : Level 1 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

- TDP : This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
