Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close : Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurately captured and reported.
- Internal Controls : Establish, document, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
- Audit Coordination : Serve as liaison with external auditors, ensuring the timely completion of audits and addressing any issues that arise.
- Operations : Oversee operational areas such as Accounts Payable, and partner with Procurement, Legal, People and Culture, and other teams across the business to optimize our processes.
- Team Leadership : Hire, manage and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline underlying accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, with a focus on systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent.
- 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience leading and developing the Monthly Close.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX.
- Excellent at building cross-functional relationships and collaborating on or leading projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in process excellence and system improvements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with NetSuite
- CPA or equivalent
- Big-4 public accounting experience
- Experience at a public company in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is highly desirable

This position is located in South San Francisco, CA. At this time we are not considering remote applicants.
The salary range for this position is $160,000 USD to $180,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.
