Responsibilities

The Bilingual Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties that directly support efficient clinic flow, effective and safe clinic operations, and excellent patient experience.

The Medical Assistant supports patient care by taking medical histories, accurately capturing and documenting patient vital signs, requesting and updating patient medical records, filing communicating with patients, and providing documentation for patients or members of the healthcare team while always maintaining patient confidentiality.

The Medical Assistant's primary responsibilities may vary based on state regulations .

  • Greet and escort patients to exam room, gather patient history, take and record vital signs, prepare patient for examination and document all information in patient medical record.
  • Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
  • Provide assistance to physician and / or advanced practice provider in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision of physician and advance practice provider. .
  • Perform applicable medical procedures collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physician, advanced practice provider, or nursing staff and ensure patientâ⠢s understanding of the information.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians and pharmacies.

Maintains patient files, records, and other information.

  • Translate English to Spanish.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Level : Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required. MA certification required; if not currently certified, certification must be obtained within 6 months to 1 year dependent on state requirements.

Experience Years : 1+ yearsâ⠢ experience in office-based setting preferred.

Experience Industry : Healthcare

  • CPR certification required
  • Must have the ability to follow universal precautions,
  • Ability to maintain OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
