Student Legal Services at The Ohio State University (SLS) seeks an Immigration Paralegal for its Columbus, Ohio location.
SLS supports student success by serving the holistic legal needs of Ohio State students through legal advice, representation, education, and resources.
The Paralegal will provide legal and administrative support to SLS’s Immigration attorney. Duties will include but are not limited to : Interact with clients to provide information about the immigration process.
Obtain proper documents and help a client understand them.Explain the immigration process and requirements to clients.Research requirements for various immigration applications.
Maintain client files online and offline.Update clients on progress and explain next steps.Prepare and file paperwork.Supervise law clerk immigration assignments and workflow.
Assist with educational programming and outreach events.Other administrative support as required.Successful candidate will have a paralegal certificate or Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework, excellent computer skills, strong attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal direction, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred applicants have at least one year of immigration paralegal experience. Work with individual immigration clients is ideal, but employer immigration experience will be considered.
