Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction for research support services, including research project development, biostatistics, survey methods, manuscript development and review processes.
Work collaboratively with the Clinical Research and Analytics Division to support CENTRA and ASCO programs and projects and advance ASCO’s strategic plan and CENTRA goals.
Identify new opportunities for ASCO research projects or programs to support ASCO’s strategic plan
Develop and nurture strategic partnerships within ASCO and in appropriate sectors of the health community to conduct ASCO research and support implementation of rigorous clinical cancer research methods and those that improve access to trials for patients with cancer.
Oversee engagement with volunteer committees for CENTRA research, including the ASCO Research Committee, State of Cancer Care in America Editorial Group, and task forces.
Engage with other ASCO departments to support ASCO’s education and training programs, especially for aspects related to cancer clinical trials and research methods.
Lead and / or assist with developing proposals for external funding, including proposals for federal funds (e.g., NIH grants) or foundation funding.
Required Education and Experience
PhD in a medical research-related field, or MD with research degree or certification.
12+ years of experience working in collaborative teams in an academic or academic-like setting
At least 25 co-authored publications
5 years of experience in clinical trials research
5 years of experience in oncology
Successful track record of securing external funding as a co-investigator
Teaching experience, as instructor for two or more courses or workshops
Experience leading a team, setting and communicating strategic vision, evaluating and coaching performance.
Preferred Education and Experience
Successful track record of securing external funding as a principal investigator or co-investigator
10 years experience in clinical cancer research, including cancer clinical trials

Ability to lead effectively requiring high levels of collaboration, sound judgment and significant operational and administrative management expertise
The ability to determine goals and priorities and to assess the actions, time and resources needed to achieve those goals
ADA / Physical Requirements Extended periods seated or standing at a desk.High use of computer and other office technology equipment.
