Responsibilities
FSU International Programs is seeking a Risk Manager to join our Emergency and Risk Management Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for risk management functions for our programs and staff, providing critical support in incident response, risk mitigation, and safety planning.
Overall, this position will manage a portfolio of responsibilities including incident reporting and response, risk identification and mitigation strategies, on-call coordination, insurance ticketing, and trainings and orientation related to health, safety, and security.
Key responsibilities include :
- Develop and deliver risk-related trainings, orientations, and resources for programs and staff.
- Collaborate with the Program Management Team on integrating risk considerations into program materials, policies, procedures, and trainings.
- Conduct location-specific security analyses, risk assessments, and develop emergency plans, safety guides, and contractual updates.
- Monitor the travel registry and assist in maintaining up-to-date security and safety protocols.
- Lead and oversee IP’s rotational on-call team responsible for responding to critical incidents after-hours, including weekends and holidays.
Manage scheduling, resources, trainings, debriefs, and incident reporting for the on-call team.
- Assist with insurance responsibilities, including medication and provider research and answering questions regarding coverage and benefits.
- Represent the department in relevant professional organizations and attend conferences and site visits as needed to stay informed about industry best practices and enhance program security.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience or a high school diploma / equivalent and experience equal to eight years in the same areas.
Note : post high-school education and / or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Prior experience in the field of higher education, or emergency response and crisis management.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply accreditation and / or compliance standards of applicable association, bureau, or other recognized governing entity in area of work.
- Knowledge of emergency communications and hazard response practices, procedures, and protocols.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, considering, and respecting others' input personal values, and ethics.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated starting salary for this position is in the range of $50,000, commensurate with education and experience.
