Hi, I'm Cato, CEO and Co-Founder of Loop and I am hiring a Director of Engineering to play a pivotal role in driving the company’s technical direction and ensuring the delivery of scalable, innovative, and high-quality products.
This role is an onsite position at our downtown Toronto office.
Where You Come In
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join our growing team with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects in the fintech sector.
You will work alongside the senior leadership team at Loop to define our product offering and help to positively transform the way that business access financial services.
In this role, you’ll be leading Loop’s technical strategy, building and leading a high-performing engineering team, and driving the development of our cutting-edge financial products.
As the Director of Engineering, you will be expected to align technology initiatives with business goals, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leadership and Team Building :
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high performing engineering team.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages continuous improvement and adopting cutting-edge technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and career development for team members.
- Build a culture of ownership and accountability where each team member is individually and collectively responsible for the success of our platform and our customers.
- Promote a collaborative, ambitious, and outcome-driven environment.
Technical Strategy and Vision :
- Drive the implementation of Loop’s product roadmap in alignment with our company vision.
- Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and secure architecture capable of managing complex financial transactions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our platform remains at the forefront of fintech innovation.
Project Management :
- Oversee the end-to-end project delivery, ensuring that we ship quickly and with high-quality.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and resources are effectively managed for successful project completion.
- Collaborate with product and business teams, to prioritize, scope and manage engineering projects.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and team performance.
- Implement best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI / CD).
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably within a fintech or payments-related environment.
- You are comfortable with developing planning for teams, resourcing and budgeting.
- You are a strong communicator, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You possess strong technical mastery in software engineering and remain curious and committed to learning and improving your craft.
- You have a strong sense of urgency to deliver results and inspire the team to achieve beyond their perceived limits.
- You are comfortable dealing with being on the front lines of addressing high-priority production challenges.
- Excellent project management skills, with an ability to have complex projects be delivered on time and within budget through constraints and adversity.
- Deep understanding of modern technology stacks, cloud infrastructure, security management and DevOps practices.
- A passion for fintech and a desire to drive innovation in the financial industry.

What we offer
Salary range CAD $170,000-$200,000 annual, commensurate with experience
Equity ranging 0.5% - 1%
Enrollment in group's health benefits after probation period
