BASIC FUNCTION : The Intake Clinician provides assessments to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients.

The Intake Clinician is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

The Intake Clinician is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed and for all intake activity and clinical assessments associated with the proper admission of patients (ages and up).

Qualifications

Position requires clinical experience and licensure as a registered nurse, social worker, or counselor. Licensure must maintain license and registration as a condition of employment.

• For Social Worker or Counselor : Master’s Degree from an accredited university in mental health field with demonstrated skills and active license in the District of Columbia including LICSW, LGSW, LPC, LGPC.
• For Registered Nurse : Licensed Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia
• 1-2years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care and substance use assessments Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.

Supervisor experience preferred.
