Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill seventy-five part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) MIME Facilities Student Worker positions for the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The MIME Facilities Student Worker is responsible for general building maintenance / repair activities and improvement projects.
Tasks include painting, office and lab moves, material handling, general maintenance, fabrication projects, design work, and workspace organization.
Employees are expected to be familiar with the operation of standard woodworking tools and hand and power tools. Position Duties 100% Assist with projects in the MIME buildings including manufacturing and fabrication projects, facilities organization, and completion of facilities maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, furniture moving, and lab setups.

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

A reduced course load is approved by the (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications
Experience with basic hand and power tools.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard : 05-010 et seq.
Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
- Students with Mechanical Engineering coursework or other engineering coursework completed preferred.
- Experience with machine tools such as lathes and mills and / or experience with wood working tools is preferred.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
- Work to be performed in MIME facilities.
- May be required to maneuver up to 50 pounds of weight.
- The student worker may be required to work up to an approximate 20 hours per week.
