The Team

The R&D (Research & Development) department at Baxter’s Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring division is currently seeking a Sr.

Principal Mechanical Engineer with a product development background in medical devices to join the team at our Bellevue, WA headquarters.

This is a hybrid role that allows a flexible schedule for remote and onsite work.

The right person will have extensive medical device research and development experience and an interest in helping refine our processes to be more streamlined, scalable, and efficient.

This person will leverage their experience and industry knowledge to lead project teams in new product development as well as strategic research and future wearable medical device innovation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and executing technical projects consisting of the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Conduct independent technical investigations utilizing a wide variety of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Prepare design specifications, requirements, analyses, and recommendations for presentation, review, and approval.
  • Lead and / or collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet schedule & project demands.
  • Initiate and lead meetings with project teams during various phases of development to review, evaluate, update, and drive the decision-making process that leads to delivery of project goals.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies to deliver projects on time.
  • Meet manufacturability, compliance, and product robustness requirements through documentation, test, or analysis.
  • Work with suppliers (both foreign and domestic) on Design for Manufacturing / Design for Assembly to ensure smooth manufacturing operations with high yield.
  • Contribute to a vibrant and collaborative team culture, with a focus on accountability and open communication.
  • Mentor junior engineers to improve their skills and help them grow.
  • Follow documented procedures for all activities related to the Quality Management System.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7+ years proven success in product development environment (from inception to production) with 2+ years in a lead role.
  • 5+ years designing products and bringing them to market in a regulated industry.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software and PDM (Solidworks).
  • Experience working with PCB designers and exposure to PCB layout and PCBA mechanical design.
  • Experience in prototyping, testing, and evaluating mechanical designs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to write and speak clearly about technical subject matter.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in a fast-paced, dynamic, small team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Skilled communicator with interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
