POSITION : Building Operations Assistant ,

LOCATION : New Orleans, LA.

HOURS : Full time

COMPENSATION : $50,000 - $55,000

ABOUT THE POSITION

Assistant Director of Operations reports directly to Director of Operations for the Saenger Theatre & Mahalia Jackson Theater (ATG Entertainment Venues)

  • Overseeing venue preparation prior, during & after events.
  • Should be honest, proactive, motivated, and punctual.
  • Communicate & work well with others.
  • Assist other departments, when necessary, as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond to a wide range of venue / patron issues with sensitivity & care.
  • Reporting to Director of Operations & other departments in daily operations of the buildings.
  • Perform small repair jobs relating to doors, ceilings, floors, glass, walls, handrails, lighting fixtures, paint, etc.
  • Must be computer literate, ability to learn compliance & purchase order software.
  • Oversee venue cleanliness, changing marquees after each performance, ordering supplies, etc.

The Mahalia Jackson Theater is home to the New Orleans Opera and New Orleans Ballet and hosts numerous other events through the year.

The Saenger Theatre is a fully restored 1927 movie palace that hosts the Broadway in New Orleans series, as well as a wide variety of concerts, comedy, and family shows.

  • The Assistant Director of Operations works with other departments to provide coordination between events / shows and the venue staff.
  • This position will split time between our two New Orleans theaters.
  • The successful applicant will have excellent computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to learn compliance & purchase order software.

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • Basic understanding of overall Maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge and / or experience with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, cleaning, handywork general maintenance would be a big plus.
  • Good communication skills and problem solving.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work calmly in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be available on occasion to work nights and weekends as requested.

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs regularly, occasionally work on theatre grids, catwalks.
  • Ability to work in high decibel level environment.
