salary commensurate with experience Position Summary : Under the direction of the Public Health Director of Nursing or the Public Health Communicable Disease Clinic Senior Manager, the Public Health Nurse Supervisor is responsible for directing, evaluating, and coordinating delivery of services in multiple program areas, and supervising the nursing staff and other staff members assigned to the Immunization Clinic.
Supporting other offices and programs as needed in the event of an emergency, outbreak, or as needed. Supporting the Health Commissioner’s vision for Public Health.
- Responsibilities include but not limited to : Supervises nursing staff and other staff assigned to the Immunization Clinic;
- Counsels staff and provides guidance; Interviews applicants and recommends personnel actions; Acts as a liaison between staff and administration;
- Recommends training for staff Plans, directs, evaluates and coordinates the overall delivery of services provided in multiple public health programs;
- May assist in the completion of grant applications for program May assist the Director of Nursing or Medical Director in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of program needs, effectiveness, and efficiency May provide direct nursing care as a PH Nurse or as a PH Health Nurse Specialist;
- Provides client case management and follow-up care; Documents all information according to medical records standards; Acts a resource for clients and makes referrals to other staff and agencies Assures policies and procedures are followed;
- Interprets and implements new regulations and keeps abreast of regulatory changes as necessary; Assists with and coordinates the evaluation of standards which ensure effective and quality health care services and assures Medicare certification and regulatory compliance as necessary Prepares reports, collects data, ensures quality of assigned program areas;
- Documents data and generates reports manually or electronically as required Participates on agency and community organization committees;
Represents agency at meetings, conferences, and Health Fairs; Develops / participates in training sessions / in-service.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with valid a licensure from the State of Ohio Three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse Two (2) years' supervisory and management experience Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public health practices based on scientific research including health promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and communicable disease control measures including vaccination, isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and prevention of disease, among others.
Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine products in any form including replacement therapy products and prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for anyone hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited.
Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted.
This may include changes in responsibilities and working locations / hours. Completion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire.
Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurance on any personal vehicle that will be used for work.
