Job purpose
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for contributing to the PM purpose of achieving optimal equipment and process conditions in a manner that is efficient and cost effective.
This leader will also be responsible for partnering with engineering to procure parts for projects that launch across our multiple sites.
Duties and responsibilities
Performs initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of
performance of PMs
- Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements
- Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in performance of the proposed work
- Makes safety procedures, including lock-out / tag-out (LOTO) procedures available to employees
- Estimates required hours of work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to
perform the task
- Plans jobs with appropriate level of detail for given skilled trades workforce
- Determines and includes Quality requirements on jobs
- Procures equipment and specialized tools required to perform work
- Gathers necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings
- Writes clear and concise work procedures
- Determines and arranges for parts required to perform the work
- Plans parts for all projects to increase 'wrench time' and maximize efficiency
- Compiles information into a job package that is ready for skilled trades while clearly
communicating critical steps in the process
- Prints and delivers work orders to the skilled trades in conjunction with a weekly work schedule
- Upon completion of jobs, communicates with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that
would make future jobs more efficient
- Keeps bills of materials current
- Is able to accurately measure the maintenance backlog and maintain less than 4 weeks work at
all times
- Responsible for equipment and repair parts data entry and management
- Ensures all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished
- Participates in outage planning activities such as scope identification, scheduling, coordination,
execution, and continuous improvement
Compiles and delivers reports from CMMS (PLEX) regarding the work execution management
process
Collaborates with Engineering to procure and track parts needed for projects pertaining to
growth, innovation, etc
Qualifications
- Prefer 2-years' experience in procurement and a technical role
- Must have an excellent Safety record and champion a Safety culture
- Must have strong, positive leadership, communication, and organization skills
- Bilingual skills preferred, not required (English, Spanish)
- Must have strong PC skills : MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and math skills
- Must be self-motivated with a high degree of integrity and be able to perform job duties with
minimal supervision on a timely basis
Past job performance must reflect dependability, maturity, initiative, positive personal
Demeanor and the ability to exercise good judgement
SAP, ROSS, PLEX, or other ERP environment skill and abilities a plus, or must be able to learn
Working conditions
- Must be able to work any / all shifts as directed
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including Holidays and / or weekends
Physical requirements
- A non-slip resistant work shoe
- Preshift stretch and exercises to be performed
- Hair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves as warranted
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
