The Certification Test Engineer will collaborate with Hardware Engineering and Program Technical Lead to bring advanced Satellite Communications products and systems to market.
This position is responsible for verification testing and / or analysis in support of product regulatory requirements . The duties of a successful team member include but are not limited to developing test plan / procedures / reports and conducting the testing onsite or at external local Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) and / or out of state (dependent upon local NRTL capabilities).
Provides risk assessments based on design concepts or models, and development of design enhancements to address product deficiencies prior to confidence and formal qualification testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Able to self-manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to interact professionally with intracompany organizations including but not limited Test Engineering, Hardware & Software Engineering, and Mechanical CAD
- Able to work independently or with specific direction, as required
- Knowledge of Environmental and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test standards for Commercial, Military and Aerospace applications including but not limited to RTCA DO-160G, MIL-STD-810G, IEC 55032 / 24 etc.
- An understanding of Product Safety Standards such as IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, and MIL-STD-822
- Strong Familiarity with MS Office Tools. Write test plans, procedures, and reports in Microsoft Word according to project data item descriptions (DIDS) provided by Government organizations or formatting defined by Customer and / or Comtech document guidelines
- Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
- Review drawings, sketches, parts lists, specifications, schematics, mock-ups, and products to integrate with a test fixturing required
- When necessary, travel to external NRTL to support compliance testing and equipment operation / debug
- Ability to troubleshoot problems that may arise offsite during qualification testing.
- Reports, tracks and monitors product performance, capabilities, and defects to facilitate product improvements
- Work with External Testing Labs post-test to complete Test Reports to Customer Satisfaction
- Willing to learn new standards and company documentation system
- Knowledge & understanding of and ability to facilitate FMEA and MBTF analysis per applicable military & commercial industry standards on new designs working with design team will be a plus
- Maintains records and files of documentation
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering, math, physics, computer science, or related STEM discipline
- Five or more years of full-time engineering experience
Compensation : $110,000-130,000 annual base salary, depending on experience
