Position Title : ENRICHMENT SKILLS TRAINER (Classified)
Department / Section : Educational Enrichment
Supervisor : Director of Educational Enrichment
Hourly Rate : $27.50 / hour for non-certificated classified staff.
Schedule : 3 to 8 hours / week (Variable : Afterschool)
DUTIES : Provide instruction / training in specific skill areas (i.e., chess, robotics, STEM, sports) as needed for enrichment programs or activities for K-5 students or trainings for staff / community (i.
e., CPR / First Aid), generally in the hours afterschool or other out-of-school-time days / hours. Includes lesson planning in collaboration with program coordinator.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Provide instruction / training for students in specific skill areas as needed for enrichment programs or activities.
Distinguishing Characteristics : Incumbent works in collaboration with activities staff to provide skill development / training for enrichment programs within Educational Enrichment including, but not limited to Title I, HomeStart (homeless services), FACTS (Out-of-School-Time Program), and 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
TYPICAL TASKS :
Teach specific enrichment skills, including preparation of activity outlines or lesson plans as directed by the program supervisor.
Dependent upon the needs of the specific enrichment program, an Enrichment Skills Trainer may be hired for one specific activity occurring regularly throughout the fiscal year, including, but not limited to, chess, robotics, STEM activities, gardening, sports / recreational programs, CPR / First Aid, etc.
- Prepare and provide to the program supervisor a list of consumable supplies, materials or equipment needed for the assigned skill activities.
- Provide logistical support and / or participate in program workshops, professional development, planning meetings and / or family activities as requested by the program supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with other program staff and the program supervisor to ensure a safe environment for children.
- Follows all district policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Specific training or job experience required before appointment.
- Experience teaching the specific skill(s) required (i.e., chess, robotics, etc).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a team to plan and implement learning activities.
- Ability to interact positively with children ages 5-13 and to serve as a strong role model.
