Forklift Mechanic

Summary :
The Forklift Mechanic will perform skilled and complex mechanical repairs. Perform the duties of a mechanic involved in inspecting, repairing, fabricating, rebuilding, and maintaining light and heavy-duty forklifts.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Shop Foreman
Job Duties :
- Performs highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs on both light and heavy forklifts.
- Inspect forklifts, analyze, troubleshoot, and plan sequence of repair operations.
- Adjust or repair hydraulic, fuel and electrical systems and components.
- Test, and identify worn and damaged parts.
- Test, repair or install electrical systems and components.
- Test, repair or install hydraulic systems and components.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on equipment.
- Test drive to diagnose or to verify corrections made.
- Perform state and federal safety inspections.
- Complete daily paperwork and repair orders.
Requirements :
- 5 years’ experience with forklift maintenance.
- Self-motivated, capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Must have a complete set of tools.
- Must have knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Must be able to pass physical abilities test and a drug screen upon hire as well as random periodic screenings.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Must have a clean driving record and be 21 years old or older for insurability purposes.
