Come and join our Early Intervention Program! Work in a positive and supportive environment and make a difference in the lives of children and families! Thom Child & Family Services is seeking an Teacher Assistant to join their Thom Child & Family Services program team located in West Newbury, MA .
The Teacher Assistant will assist in center-based or community-based child, parent / child, parent support, or parent education groups.
The ideal candidate is a professional who would like to work part-time with children birth to age three, has excellent interpersonal skills, is yearning to be part of a supportive team and is eager to continue learning.
Qualifications / Requirements :
- A minimal educational requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old. College course work and interest in birth to age 3 years old children is a must.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries; promote client confidentiality; and exhibit flexibility, sensitivity to cultural differences, and teamwork.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve, make recommendations, and implement solutions.
Job Responsibilities :
- Preparation, collection, and organization of classroom materials
- Set-up & clean-up for group ensuring all materials are cleaned and put back in appropriate storage areas and that table surfaces, mats, bolsters, etc.
are disinfected after each class / playgroup.
- Interact with children in ways consistent with their social, language, cognitive, and motor development.
- Follow through on specific developmental or therapeutic approaches including feeding, positioning, behavior management, etc.
- Assist in planning and preparing curriculum materials for playgroups with other team members.
- Provide guidance and assistance as needed to children in class according to their Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and daily curriculum plan.
- Develop knowledge of emergency procedures, child specific allergies / medical / special needs information, etc. for each child in the playgroup.
- Communicate with staff pertinent information about clients.
- Process the group with other group staff.
- Specific Clinical and administrative support as requested.
Other Duties :
Attend and participate in occasional staff meetings and in-service trainings.
