As a technical Business Systems Analyst within PNC’s ACFR organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.
The hiring manager is seeking technical business analysts with experience and interest in business and data analysis, software requirements writing and testing, and working in a fast paced environment in various phases of the application development SDLC process.
The position involves working in the Technology area supporting the Broker Dealer, Risk, and Insurance applications as well as the older IRS application.
This position will also involve working on various portions of several new replacement system rewrites in a cloud computing environment.
Responsibilities will include :
- Participate and lead requirement gathering sessions with other analysts, from both LOB and the Technology areas, and keep track of various small LOB demands for changes across a portfolio of applications.
- Evaluate data fields from the various interfacing systems and EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) to ensure accuracy in data mapping and data values.
- Test, document, and communicate the results from testing, data analysis (using complex SQL queries against an Oracle database), and defect (in HP ALM) status.
- Participate in all relevant stages of an application development team’s SDLC process and contribute strongly in each phase (though not as a developer).
- Develop a strong business and technical understanding of the applications that are hosted on a variety (mostly distributed / cloud) of platforms.
Here are the job responsibilities :
Lead requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders and translate those to functional / non-functional requirements and user stories;
and maintain the documentation for these requirements.
- Identify the current AS-is and future state of the application based on the changes in the business processes and needs, whether related to smaller application maintenance, changes to interfaces, or on work on a full-scale replacement application.
- Write and analyze complex business and data requirements over various applications
- Complete application testing and documentation, and work with developers and LOB to record defects in HP ALM, and manage defect resolution for each release.
- Communicate results, findings, and other project related information in sound and clear / concise written communication or verbal communication.
Be comfortable presenting findings to a larger audience.
- Write and document complex queries in the SQL querying language, with a firm understanding of the underlying data, and the relationships between fields in the database
- Develop a solid understanding of the business processes and key terms and business functions in order to actively engage LOB members, Technical members, and data analysts.
- Analyze multiple system data sets and providing summary of findings, including explanation of the variances and root cause, and effectively communicate the impact of the LOB members.

Work Experience
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
