The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant for our Office of Civil Rights Enforcement ( OCRE ).
Position Summary :
This position will assist the OCRE staff with the following duties :
- Reviewing, scanning, and organizing incoming mail.
- Preparing outgoing mail.
- Communicating in writing and via telephone with internal and external stakeholders.
- Creating and maintaining electronic matter files by internal guidelines.
- Supporting legal case management by organizing files, docketing deadlines and meetings, assisting in preparation of pleadings, exhibits, and briefs, and tracking case progress.
- Performing data entry and maintaining precise records of case-related information.
- Conducting small legal and factual research assignments using online databases and resources.
- Proofreading correspondence, memoranda, briefs, and legal opinions.
- Other duties as may be assigned or required.
All Office of Attorney General employees must maintain integrity and confidentiality of information as required.
Qualifications :
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Pro.
- Professional demeanor.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience as a legal assistant, paralegal or in civil rights or employment law.
