Job Description :
Thinking Minds' client, a leading regulated utility in the Northeast USA, is seeking a SAP Project Manager to lead a significant program aimed at modernizing their existing SAP ERP system to S4 / HANA.
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring the success of a complex IT initiative within the utility industry.
The selected candidate will oversee the project from initiation through completion, managing budgets, schedules, and project risks, while coordinating cross-functional teams of internal staff and external vendors.
The role will require working closely with the client to ensure the project meets organizational standards and achieves desired business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the project team, managing scope, schedule, budget, and vendor relationships
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between project stakeholders
- Develop and maintain project management plans, driving governance reviews
- Oversee requirements gathering and approval processes according to organizational standards
- Monitor progress, tracking key milestones and deliverables
- Manage project financials, forecasting monthly budgets, and tracking actuals against plans
- Provide regular project updates through comprehensive written and verbal reports
- Ensure quality standards are met throughout project deliverables
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of project management experience on enterprise-level SAP projects
- Proven track record managing SAP implementations, specifically S4 / HANA
- Strong experience in handling project financials, scheduling, and scope management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer-facing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Microsoft Project
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in the utility sector
- PMP certification
- Previous involvement in RFP processes for SAP programs
